TOWN OF TURIN — Two men were charged with drug-related crimes after a motor vehicle accident in Lewis County Sunday afternoon, according to local law enforcement officials.
Sheriff’s deputies said Blake Elliott, 20, of 7052 Rumble Road, Lyons Falls, failed to yield at the East Road intersection with Turin Road at about 3:17 p.m., causing his 2001 Honda Civic to continue forward into the front lawn of a residence, where it struck a parked cattle trailer.
Deputies said Elliott was found to be driving under the influence of drugs and he was taken into custody.
Deputies said that a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Xavier T. Polk, of 327 Post St., Boonville, was found to be in possession of a quantity of ecstasy.
Elliott is charged with one count each of driving while ability impaired by drugs, failure to yield and unreasonable speed, along with several other vehicle and traffic tickets, the law enforcers said.
The deputies added that Elliott is scheduled to appear in Town Court to answer the charges.
Polk is charged with one count of fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, authorities said.
He was arraigned in court and was sent to county jail in lieu of $750 cash bail, the law enforcers added.
Polk is also scheduled to reappear in court, authorities said.
