Owl and Silver Moon preschool accepting applications

Rome Art and Community Center, 308 W. Bloomfield St., has announced registration for and expansion of its early learning academy, The Owl & The Silver Moon.

The preschool is a half-day program that follows the school year calendar. The program is completing its third successful year, and will be expanding to two sessions in September 2020.

The mission of The Owl & The Silver Moon is “Learning through the Lens of the Arts,” a place where the ordinary meets the extraordinary; where exploration and creativity equal learning, said RACC Executive Director Tamalin Martin.

“The goals of the OSM are to create and instill a joyous passion for learning; to promote literacy and reading readiness, numeracy and math readiness, character development and self-regulation as well as create lasting connections for children, families, the art center and the community,” Martin said.

“From birth to age 5, a child learns at a speed unmatched for the rest of life. The interactions and exposure at this early age shape all future learning.  Learning should be a positive, exciting and natural experience.”

For under $12 a day, a child can receive quality, early education through The Owl & The Silver Moon.

“At the OSM, children explore a world of imagination and uncover a world of possibilities,” she added. “Days are filled with interactive learning experiences and exposure to the various genres of art, music, drama, and literature.  We infuse creativity into productive learning experiences.”

For the 2020-21 school year, programming will be expanded to two sessions:

Morning session:

(child turns age 4 by Dec. 1)

Monday through Friday, 8:30-11:30 a.m.; for ages 4-5

Afternoon session (for 3-year-olds):

(child turns age 3 by Dec. 1)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday; noon to 3 p.m.
