Oriskany helps grad battling brain cancer

ORISKANY — Team Magnanti is on a roll.

Helping to raise $2,000 for a community member battling brain cancer, Oriskany Central School Varsity Club played a “Gray-Out” game featuring the girls’ varsity basketball team.

Kevin Magnanti, a 1996 graduate of Oriskany High School, and other attendees, were welcomed by Varsity Club President Carl Graziadei. Magnanti is fighting brain cancer, and the fund-raiser will help support his family. He was joined at the event by wife Alyssa and their children, Augie and Rocco, as well as his parents, Jim and Becky Magnanti.

Graziadei pointed out that Oriskany, a small community, gives the opportunity for a tremendous outpouring of support. He recognized those who brought donated gifts, especially teachers, faculty, staff, students and retired teachers. Money collected from the sale of T-shirts and other events will boost Augie and Rocco’s college fund.

We hope Team Magnanti success in the future. Our thoughts and prayers go with Oriskany’s to the Magnanti family.
