Opening of new store in Lee draws nearer, officials say
TOWN OF LEE – A new Dollar General store on Turin Road/Route 26 near the intersection with Stokes-Lee Center Road is nearly ready to open, but a date has not been specified yet, according to company officials.
The store, whose construction began last fall, has a tentative opening date soon “but the ability to do so on that timeline may be subject to final store preparations,” Dollar General spokesperson Angela Petkovic said Tuesday.
The company will be issuing an announcement for the store opening, said Petkovic.
When asked whether a grand-opening ceremony is being scheduled, the company spokesperson said that “currently we do not have any formal grand opening celebration plans as we continue to assess such events amid COVID-19.”
The store will be about 9,300 square feet according to company plans. Dollar General sells name-brand and private-brand merchandise such as foods, health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies, housewares, stationery, seasonal items and basic clothing, Petkovic has said.
