Oneida’s Paul, Sauquoit Valley’s Farwell top Section III boys volleyball players

Oneida’s Ryan Paul and Sauquoit Valley’s Mason Farwell were named the Section III boys volleyball players of the year for their respective classes.

Oneida’s Ryan Paul and Sauquoit Valley’s Mason Farwell were named the Section III boys volleyball players of the year for their respective classes.

Paul helped lead Oneida to a Class B title while Farwell and Sauquoit won the Class C title. Sauquoit was 13-6 and won the small schools division of Section III in the regular season. Oneida was 17-2 and won the postseason title after finishing behind Chittenango in the regular season. The Bears had been 17-0 going into that title match. Oneida went on to win a regional championship.

Rik Ano, the coach of Oneida, was the divisional coach of the year. Sauquoit coach Joe Miller was the coach of the year in his team’s division.

Oneida’s Spencer Ingmire and Quinn Jennings were named to the first team.

Rome Free Academy’s Sonepith Keoviengsamay, Central Valley Academy’s Brayden Clark, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Nolan Robinson and both Micah Albro and Lawson Pagorek were also first team selections.

The divisional second team selections are: Trevor Cole and Landon Parks of Chittenango, Rob Paul of Oneida, Ryan Mumford of VVS, Casey Podkowka of RFA, Jesse DeMaintenon of Canastota and Colby Meyers of CVA.

Receiving an honorable mention were: Cole Thomas and Rodger Mulholland of Chittenango; Tom Lacy, Ryan Hughes and Owen Petzoldt of Oneida; Nolan Miller, Ryan Mitchell and Nico Lavesa-Cesana of VVS; Gavin Civitelli and Santino Campanaro of RFA; and Andrew Haddad of Canastota.

Sauquoit’s Quincy Stayton and Tom Coughlin were named to the divisional first team.

Also on the first team are: Anthony Zysk of Little Falls, Dustin Walker of Mount Markham, Carter McGregor of Westmoreland, Jayden Crandall of Herkimer and Dominick Landers of Cincinnatus.

The second team is: Nick Giuliano and Zack Murphy of Sauquoit, Derek Barnes of Little Falls, Robert Huntley of Mount Markham, Dakota Sill of Westmoreland, Brian Flint of Herkimer and Colton Maroney.

Honorable mentions are: Jack Bowers of Sauquoit; Mike Bucenec, Connor Baylor and Dallas Lapone of Little Falls; Bryant Denza and Nick Sanzo of Mount Markham; Justin Jennings of Westmoreland; Leslie Xiao of Herkimer and Calib Baker and Elijah Cree of Cincinnatus.
