Oneida Water Dept. warns of possible discolored water
ONEIDA — Officials with the City of Oneida Water Department is warning residents that they may see some temporary dirty water in a portion of the distribution system beginning the morning of May 25 through June 1.
The officials said that the discoloration is because of the corrosion of the transmission main and high flow due to seasonal consumption patterns.
The water is safe and the color should clear quickly, the officials with the Oneida Water Department stressed.
The discoloration may affect customers in:
-The City of Oneida;
-The Sherrill-Kenwood Water District;
-The Prospect Water Street District; and
-The Verona Route 365 District.
Residents are advised to check their cold water prior to utilizing their hot water.
The announcement added that residents should exercise caution if washing clothes during this time frame.
