ONEIDA — The Oneida School District Athletic Hall of Fame has announced its 2019 inductees.
The Hall of Fame’s second class includes principal Otto Shortell; coach Tom Maher, coach John Perretta, coach Don Rigabar; the 1978-79 basketball team, the 2008 football team; and athletes John Elberson (1991), Rob Kramer (2004), Eric Moyer (1957), Kristin Sterling Myatt (2001), Katie Kramer Nestler (2001), Paul Shmutz (1961), Arthur ‘Bud’ Sheedy (1965) and Dave Stone (1980).
This year’s induction ceremony will be held on Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 4-5. The football game will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, and the ceremony will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the high school auditorium. Ticket information will be available soon.
Sales to the event and donations through GoFundMe provide scholarships to students at Oneida High School. The 2019 scholarship recipients are Nicole Smith and Lukas Albro.
The selection committee receives nominations each year from January through April. Coaches, teams, athletes and community members can be chosen. Next year a new website for the Athletic Hall of Fame will be available with links to the nomination form.
