Oneida man faces multiple charges after domestic dispute

ONEIDA — A 33-year-old man was picked up on four open warrants for missing court when law enforcers said he was taken into custody for a new domestic dispute in Madison County.

Police said Danny W. Britton Jr., of 216 Sherman St., was involved in a domestic dispute in which he choked another person at a residence in Oneida in November. Police said Britton was also in violation of an order of protection and stole property from the residence.

A warrant was issued for Britton’s arrest following the November domestic dispute.

Police said they finally caught up with Britton on April 5 and he was taken into custody for the dispute. Britton is charged with one count each of obstruction of breathing, second-degree burglary, first-degree contempt, second-degree harassment, second-degree aggravated harassment, petty larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated.

Once in custody, authorities said Britton was also charged with four outstanding City Court bench warrants for third-degree assault and three separate counts of second-degree contempt. Authorities said Britton had failed to appear in court on those four cases.

Britton was arraigned in City Court on all new and outstanding charges, and he was sent to county jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
