Oneida swept a softball doubleheader on Saturday against Baldwinsville, winning the opener 3-2 in walk-off fashion before taking a 6-1 victory in the second game.Kyra Shlotzhauer threw two complete game victories.
Olivia Friend singled in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a comeback in the opener. The Indians trailed 2-0 headed to the bottom of the sixth. They scored one there then two in the last half inning on Friend’s single to win.
Shlotzhauer struck out six and allowed six hits, and Kaylin Curro had three hits and drove in one. Friend was 3-for-4 with the game-winner, and Lauren Skibitski had two hits and scored.
In the second game, the Indians scored twice in the first and twice in the second for an early lead. Shlotzhauer gave up four hits and walked two while striking out five for the win.
Curro, Friend and Sydney Lusher each had two hits for Oneida, which is 8-0 in the Tri-Valley League and improved to 13-1 overall.
Westmo falls to Notre Dame
Notre Dame of Utica beat Westmoreland 14-1 in a non-league road softball contest.
The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 after one but the Jugglers scored three in the second, five in the fourth and three in the fifth to take over.
Katie Fedor took the loss on the mound. Autumn Millington had a double for Westmoreland.
Clinton gets lacrosse win
The Clinton boys lacrosse team won 6-1 at home against Watertown IHC.
Nick Mondore scored twice and had an assist for the Warriors. Corbin Melie also scored two. Brian Saunders scored and had two assists. Victor Graham also scored. TJ Elsenbeck and Tyler Karuzas each added an assist. In goal, Josh Trask made 11 saves for Clinton to get the win.
Central Square pounds RFA
Central Square beat Rome Free Academy in boys lacrosse at home 18-10.
Chris Orton scored four times and added an assist for the Black Knights. Noah Hammon and Justin Hoke each scored two and assisted on two. Keyshawn Clark scored and had an assist. Griffin Eychner also scored.
Andy Barber made nine saves in goal for RFA.
