Four players put up double digit points for the Oneida girls basketball team as the Indians cruised to a 75-41 home win over Central Valley Academy Tuesday night.
Sydney Lusher scored 17 and dished out 10 assists for a double-double. Ella Rainbow led the Indians with 18 points, Lauren Skitbitski scored 15 and Kaylin Curro had 14. Rainbow and Lusher each sank four three-pointers.
RFA girls lose close game
The Rome Free Academy girls basketball team lost on the road at Whitesboro, 46-42.
Tailyn Frost and Amya McLeod each scored 14 for the Black Knights in the loss.
RFA led 21-19 at the half, but the Warriors came out in the second half and took the lead, going up 33-31 after three quarters and holding on for the win.
VVS boys volleyball wins
The Vernon-Verona-Sherrill boys varsity volleyball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-1 win over Mount Markham. Set scores were 18-25, 25-12, 25-13 and 25-16.
VVS was led by Colten Terrier’s 19 assists and five kills; Cole Smith with four aces and 10 digs; Ryan Shantal with three digs, eight kills and two block kills; Evan Kirkpatrick with 11 assists; and Adam Durfee’s 11 kills and five block kills.
RFA rolls to win
RFA’s girls bowling team shut out Central Valley Academy 11-0 at King Pin Lanes
RFA’s Sadie Falcone had the team’s high game of 236 and MaryKate Weyant had a team high series of 656.
HP bowls to win
Holland Patent beat Cooperstown, 3-2, in boys bowling at home.
Holland Patent’s Jaden Merrill had the team’s high game and series, 259 and 630, respectively.
RFA swimmers win over Oneida
The RFA boys swimming and diving team beat Oneida, 100-76, at home.
RFA won the 200 medley relay with a team of Charles Gilroy, Oliver Dragojevic, Tanner Brawdy, Alex Linderman. Those four swimmers also won the 400 freestyle relay.
Gilroy won the 200 individual medley. Linderman won the 50 freestyle. Brawdy won the 500 freestyle. Dragojevic won the 100 breaststroke.
Stone Mercurio won the diving competition for RFA.
The Indians won the 200 freestyle relay with a team of Andrew Hicks, Lucas DiLego, Aidan Hicks and Ajay Hicks won.
DiLego won the 200 freestyle for Oneida. Ajay Hicks won the 100 freestyle for the Indians. Aidan Hicks won the 100 backstroke.
RFA improves to 9-1. Oneida is now 5-2.
HP loses close swim meet
Sherburne-Earville edged out Holland Patent in a boys swim meet, 52-50, for a road win.
HP’s 200 freestyle team of Jaramia Howe, Tyler Ziobro, Caden Foote and James Newland won their race, as they also did in the 400 freestyle relay.
Foote won the 200 freestyle. Ziobro won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Howe won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Newland won the 500 freestyle.
Holland Patent is now 3-4-1.
