Oneida County History Center seeks new executive director

The Oneida County History Center Board of Trustees has established a search committee to replace Executive Director Brian Howard, who is leaving at the end of the year to take a similar position with the North Andover Historical Society in Massachusetts.

“Brian’s 12-year tenure has been full of highlights, growth, and significant building of relationships across Oneida County and beyond,” board Chairman Andrew Weimer said in an announcement of the search. “He will be leaving the History Center in a wonderful position for success and further growth moving forward.”

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we offer Brian nothing but well wishes and great success in his new endeavor.”

A national search will be held in early 2020. The position will be posted on the History Center website at and on other professional websites.

The Oneida County History Center, at 1608 Genesee St. is a private 501(c) (3) not-for-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving and promoting the history, heritage, and culture of the Greater Mohawk Valley.
