Oneida County 4-H youth place 4th in state Horse Bowl Contest

Four 4-H youth earned the privilege of representing Oneida County at the New York State 4-H Horse Bowl Contest, which took place Saturday, April 9, at Cornell University.
Competing against teams from across the state were, senior 4-H members:
• Alyssa Buck of Rome;
• Jacob Buck, of Rome;
• Lanelle Vile of Port Leyden; and
• Selby Young of Boonville.
These four youngsters represented Oneida County with the region 3-B senior team of four placing fourth overall out
of nine teams.
Alyssa Buck placed seventh individually.
Horse Bowl is an equine educational contest, similar to a Quiz Bowl competition, which tests the participant’s equine knowledge. A team usually consists of four 4-H members, but teams can also have up to two alternates.
