One ticketed, two injured in Verona U-turn crash
VERONA — Two people were injured and one driver was ticketed after a U-turn led to a crash in front of the Turning Stone Resort and Casino Thursday evening, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies said Robert Steinmetz, 83, of the State of Ohio, pulled a U-turn on Route 365 at the casino access road at about 7:55 p.m. Thursday. Deputies said Steinmetz turned in front of an oncoming vehicle, and his 2021 Jeep Cherokee was struck by the vehicle driven by 35-year-old Jamie Trudeau, of Verona.
The crash caused Trudeau's vehicle to leave the south shoulder into a utility pole.
Trudeau and a passenger in Steinmetz's vehicle both complained of chest pain, authorities said. Steinmetz was not injured. Deputies said Steinmetz was ticketed for failure to yield. He is scheduled to appear in Verona Town Court.
