One person was killed in a house fire on Utica’s west side Sunday night, according to city fire officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A dog was also killed.
Fire officials said there were multiple calls about a fully involved fire at 11 Dewitt St. at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Responding firefighters were warned that someone was possibly trapped inside the 2 1/2-story residence. Crews pushed inside and searched.
Authorities said they found one person and one dog dead on the first floor.
The cause and point of origin of the fire remain under investigation, authorities said. At least three adults have been displaced from the home.
Dewitt Street is a short street that runs north and west between Whitesboro and Erie streets.
