WEST TURIN — A 42-year-old man was killed when his snowmobile crashed into a tree in Lewis County Thursday evening, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said Brett McGowan, of Cicero, Onondaga County, was riding northwest on Trail C4A in West Turin when he failed to negotiate a curve around 6:18 p.m. Deputies said McGowan's 2021 Polaris Indy crashed into a tree and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
