SYRACUSE — With 20 flights of stairs and 338 steps at 331 feet, the State Tower is the tallest building in Central New York.

Area residents are being asked to join the fight against pediatric cancer by joining On My Team16 and #ClimbCancer at The State Tower Building in Downtown Syracuse on Nov. 20. Registration fee is $60. The registration fee goes toward your required $150 fund-raising total.

Check out the event details page for the special Carry A Kid VIP Climber program being offered this year.

To learn more about climbing as a team or being a floor/event sponsor, visit the event details section or email kim@onmyteam16.com.

The climb will begin at 10 a.m., but more details on certain heats, opening ceremonies, etc. will be announced soon.

A safe environment will be provided for all, but if you do have hesitations on participating due to COVID-19, reach out to the On My Team 16 directly so they can discuss the virtual options for this year’s climb.

Who will you #ClimbCancer for on Nov. 20? Email info@onmyteam16.com or call/text 315-247-9957.

On Nov. 20, On My Team 16 will have 20 floors dedicated to a different child in the community who is currently battling pediatric cancer, who has battled and beat cancer, or who has sadly lost their battle with cancer.

By registering for The Climb, and making a commitment to ascend up the 20 floors in the State Tower, you are telling those battling cancer that you are there for them, supporting them, and cheering them on throughout their journey with cancer.

On My Team 16 (OMT16) was inspired by Jack Sheridan, a young baseball pitcher from Syracuse who was diagnosed with Leukemia his sophomore year of high school. Sheridan never thought he was going to be able to pitch again, let alone survive. The threat of having baseball taken away from him really proved how much the sport and the ability to compete athletically meant to him.

On My Team16 is a non-profit organization dedicated to comforting and supporting pediatric oncology patients, families, and caregivers by raising money through athletics.

Each year approximately 15,700 children under the age of 18 are diagnosed with cancer and 12% of those children will not survive. That means that today alone, in this country, approximately 43 children will be diagnosed. By supporting On My Team 16, you will help relieve the pain, suffering and loneliness felt by those children and their families. OMT16 creates the “WE” in team.
