The Oneida-Madison-Herkimer School Boards Institute will hold a virtual program, How to Become a School Board of Education Candidate and What to Expect if Elected, starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30.

The program will begin with a welcome and introduction by Robert Batson, OMH-SBI president. At 6:05 p.m. there will be a discussion of how to become a candidate, the board election process, filing petitions, tracking finances, as well as the process for joining the board — and training requirements — for successful candidates;

At 6:20 p.m. there will be a discussion of the roles and responsibilities of school board members led by Thomas Moats, a Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District Board of Education member;

At 7:30 p.m., there will be a question and answer session and closing led by Batson.

Those interested in attending the online program should call Jim Van Wormer at 315-941-6229 or Charley Priola at 315-867-2077 to acquire the contact information for this Zoom program.
