OLD FORGE — ”Read Beyond the Beaten Path,” is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Old Forge Library.

The annual program, based on the classic summer camp experience, is a cornerstone of library programming, library officials say.

The program will run from noon to 1 p.m. each Thursday starting July 7 and will continue through August 5.

There will be a variety of activities for children pre-K and up. Children four and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Although, it is encouraged for children to attend all sessions, visitors are welcome for all special programs.

Participants will enjoy crafts, games, raffles, prizes and compete in reading contests. Crafts will include making slime, binding journals, coloring picture frames and making keychains. The Utica Zoomobile will make a visit with animals, as well as Deborah Saltis of Falcon Heart Rescue with hawks and owls. A highlight of the program is July 21, when award winning singer/songwriter Jared Campbell will make his Old Forge debut.

The schedule is as follows: July 7, orientation and camp crafts; July 14, Utica Zoomobile; July 21, Jared Campbell; July 28, Falcon Heart Wildlife Rehabilitation; and Aug. 5, finale, awards and wrap party.
