The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., has added three dates to the Free Draw Night Series: 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays Sept. 26, Oct. 24, and Nov. 21.
Anyone with an interest in drawing is invited to join three the Mountain Air Painters, a group of like-minded artists who meet weekly in Old Forge and the surrounding areas to paint plein air. The group’s members work in varied mediums ranging from oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic, but they encourage any form of artistic expression.
The evenings will have a fun theme with a specific prompt. Dinner and basic drawing supplies will be provided, but participants should bring any drawing materials if they have a specific preference.
The artists leading the evenings:
• Diane Davis is a retired high school art teacher, having taught a full range of art classes. She especially enjoyed teaching drawing, painting and ceramics.
• Ron Rakowski is a self-taught artist who credits much of his skill to classes and workshops he has taken over the years. Ron draws inspiration from nature and likes unique structures, battered rocks, rushing water, gnarly trees and his most favorite, snow.
• Jim Tracy is retired from a visual arts teaching career at the Town of Webb Schools. Artistic by nature, Jim is also a talented musician who frequently entertains locally.
Sign up by calling the library at 315-369-6008 in advance to reserve a dinner. There is no charge and all levels of experience are welcome.
