VERNON — Vernon Downs will play host to three divisions of New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for freshmen trotting colts and geldings on Friday.

The Strawboss (driver Jim Devaux) is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the $35,900 first division. The colt by Conway Hall-Jersey Gal is trained by Joe Skowyra. He has a win and a second in two lifetime starts including a second in a NYSS race at Saratoga.

Kilmister (Brian Sears) is the 3-1 second choice. Marcus Melander trains the colt by Chapter Seven-Jersey Gal. He is one-for-one with a NYSS win at Saratoga.

The Mark Harder trained The Gruffalo (Tyler Buter) is the 2-1 morning line choice in the $36,600 second division. The colt by Chapter Seven-Clementine has a NYSS win at Saratoga in his only lifetime start.

Kennebago (Trond Smedshammer) is the 3-1 second choice. The gelding by EL Titan-First Class Act is also trained by Smedshammer. He has a NYSS win at Buffalo in his two career starts.

Marcus Melander trains Crown (Brian Sears) the 6-5 morning line favorite in the $36,600 third division. The colt by Chapter Seven-Amour Heiress is one for one with a NYSS win at Saratoga.

Met Your Request (Andy Miller) is the 3-1 second choice. Julie Miller trains the gelding by Mel’s Hall-Quest Blue Chip. He has two wins in three lifetime starts including a NYSS win at Saratoga.
