Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment company, 1340 Floyd Ave., is celebrating a milestone anniversary in business.
The company is commemorating its 75th anniversary, this year with special promotions offered to customers and other activities each quarter. In June, Nunn’s 75th will be honored at a Rome Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event.
The full-line home medical equipment company goes back to 1942, when late founder Martin J. Nunn started the venture.
A great accomplishment in 2016 was the medical supply company’s first year in operation at its new Syracuse location. In late 2015, after 73 years of doing business solely based in Rome, a second location was secured through the acquisition of Rothschild’s Home Health Care of Syracuse.
“Having our second location enables the diversity we need in order to sustain the ever changing regulations and cuts in our industry,” said Erin E. Weiman, chief operating officer for Nunn’s. “It also allows us to better serve the existing Syracuse patients we have and expand our patient base as we establish new relationships in the Syracuse market.”
Weiman said the company’s Rome team has been integral in the success of making the transition happen in Onondaga County.
“Rome will always remain our core and our headquarters. We are excited about the growth that we have experienced in 2016 in our home base,” said Weiman. “We have added jobs in Rome each year as we have grown, and in 2016, we added five full-time positions in Rome.”
The new year will bring a concentration on the current customer base, by offering the best products and service Nunn’s can offer, Weiman said. Nunn’s plans to grow its product and service offerings, as well as add in-store health events to not only better educate customers, but the entire community.
“Our sleep therapy products are our most popular products,” Weiman said. “Sleep apnea is being diagnosed now more than ever. We have been able to very successfully treat these patients with the best therapy on the market. We only use the finest state-of-the-art and most technological advanced equipment.”
With advanced equipment, coupled with the knowledge and experience of five respiratory therapists, “the patient is successful with their therapy not only having better sleep, but overall experiencing a better quality of life,” she said.
