‘Now and Then, Then and Now’ art exhibit at DPN
BOONVILLE — An opening reception for the Dodge-Pratt-Northam (DPN) Art and Community Center’s featured September artist, Pat Besl, will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at 106 Schuyler St.
The exhibit, “Now and Then, Then and Now,” will be on display at the center through the month of September during normal business hours.
“I grew up on a farm in Florence, NY, and went to school in Camden,” Besl said. “I loved my art teachers. To be an art teacher seemed like the best job in the world. I went to Buffalo State College to get my BA in art education and found my husband Tom. We both became art teachers in Canastota and continued our graduate work at SUNY Oswego. I taught elementary and high school for 34 years. As it turned out, I was right! It was the best job in the world!
“We have two daughters, but our family grew over the years with fish, fowl, felines, canines, rabbits, and equines. They, along with all things botanical, became my favorite subjects.”
