Notre Dame shuts out Proctor

Eighth-grader Ella Trinkhaus struck out 18 batters and allowed two hits and two walks to help the Notre Dame softball team earn a 3-0 non-league win over visiting Thomas R. Proctor on Wednesday.

Trinkhaus, Lily Comenale and Maggie Trinkhaus each had RBIs for Notre Dame, which had its runs in the first two innings. Comenale and Maggie Trinkhaus each had doubles.

Notre Dame (2-1) is scheduled to play Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Proctor (0-1) is next scheduled to play at Rome Free Academy at 4:30 p.m. on April 19.

Oriskany edges West Canada

Kaylee Burnop hit a walk-off single in the bottom of five-run seventh inning to help Oriskany earn a 9-8 softball win over visiting West Canada Valley.

Burnop finished 2-for-4 with a double. Ashley Reid was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Mya Melvin was 2-for-4.

Juliette Tagliaferi earned the complete game win for Oriskany, striking out seven batters and walking three.

Hannah Burdick pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and walking three. Burdick was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and an RBI.
