The cause of the fire at Mac Contracting on Scott Avenue remains under investigation this morning, according to city fire officials.
“No cause yet,” said Deputy Fire Chief David Gratch this morning “We’re still looking into it.”
Gratch said a passerby discovered the heavy smoke coming from 402 Scott Ave. and called 9-1-1 at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday.
Responding firefighters launched an interior attack on the structure.
“The fire was contained to one end of the building,” Gratch stated. “We saved most of the building.”
Gratch said the fire took about 40 minutes to get under control.
The deputy fire chief said no one was injured in the firefight, and the building was empty when the fire was discovered.
Firefighters were back in
service by about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
