New senior apartments complex being planned for the village

CLINTON — Buck Construction of Whitesboro has proposed building a Senior Luxury apartment complex in the village, located off Taylor Avenue.

A proposal was presented to the Village Board at its last meeting. Company representatives said they proposed to build a 36-unit complex, but the project is still in its preliminary planning stages.

“We are looking to do a project for people who are downsizing that want a generous-size apartment with luxury finishes and a garage that is within the building,” said owner Steven Buck. “It’s geared toward down-sizers and people who travel back and forth between summer and winter to the South. It is also geared towards people who don’t want to own a home and have all that maintenance done for them by young professionals.”

Buck will need to file an application with the Village Codes Office before construction could begin. Village Clerk Rozanne D’Acunto said the project is in its “very beginning” stages, with the first stage being done at the last board meeting with Buck’s presentation on the project.

Buck has also previously proposed a 129-apartment and condo complex on Clinton Road in New Hartford, across from Preswick Glen.

Other area projects Buck has been responsible for include the Genesee Tower and Historical Park Apartments complexes in Utica, Bank of Utica, Harmony Mills housing complex in Hudson Falls, SUNY-Albany Nanotech building, South Lewis Central School additions and SUNY-Morrisville tennis facility.
