New rank, responsibilities for National Guard soldier
NEW HARTFORD — Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, adjutant general for New York, has announced the recent appointment of Cory White, of New Hartford, to staff sergeant.
White is assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 42nd Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential, according to Shields’ announcement, and recognizes the individual’s additional responsibility and leadership.
The New York National Guard is the state’s executive agency responsible to the governor for managing New York’s military forces, which consists of nearly 20,000 members of the New York Army National Guard, the New York Air National Guard, the New York Naval Militia and the New York Guard, according to the announcement.
