New president and CEO named by Mercy Flight Central Board of Directors
Mercy Flight Central Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Erin Reese as president and chief executive officer for Mercy Flight Central.
Throughout her 19-year career at Mercy Flight Central (MFC), Reese has excelled in providing clinical care to MFC patients while taking on increasing responsibility for the delivery and quality of that care, according to the organization.
MFC has enjoyed national recognition, through its CAMTS accreditation, as an organization that maintains the highest standards of care for those it transports. Officials say Reese has instilled in her colleagues a commitment to these high standards, which has fostered a workplace of operational excellence and continuous quality improvement.
Reese has exceptional institutional knowledge of MFC and the changing dynamics of the air medical industry. “Her work experience and familiarity with our people will afford us a seamless leadership transition while having an immediate impact on addressing our current needs. Erin is a respected and recognized representative of Mercy Flight Central to area hospitals, healthcare providers, and the EMS community. Mercy Flight Central has greatly benefited from her professional development and leadership amongst her peers,” the organization shared in a press release.
“This appointment demonstrates our Board of Director’s confidence and enthusiasm for Erin to lead our organization,” said Richard Burke, board chairman.
About Mercy Flight Central
Mercy Flight Central was founded as a non-profit in 1992 to provide air medical services to New York State residents and beyond.
Since its inception, the organization has reportedly served more than 16,000 patients and grown to approximately 70 employees. MFC’s three base locations serve the regions of the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Mohawk Valley, including service to the Southern Adirondack Region. The organization began operations as an advanced life support air ambulance service and has since expanded to become New York’s premier critical care air medical service with three helicopters staffed 24/7/365. The aircraft utilized in transports includes helicopters that can travel within a 150-mile radius of Mercy Flight Central’s base locations.
MFC provides the highest level of pre-hospital critical care to patients. Each helicopter is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and ultrasonography devices. Air medical teams care for critically ill and injured patients requiring advanced treatment and rapid air medical transport to specialized medical centers across the northeast.
