New Hartford’s Jenkins takes Section III East boys golf title
CLINTON — Campbell Jenkins of New Hartford won the Section III East boys golf championship Monday and helped his school to the large school team championship. Waterville won the small school title.
The event took place at Skenandoa Golf and Pool Club in Clinton.
Jenkins, a senior, shot a two-under, 70 to win by six strokes over Chris Stilwell of Whitesboro. In third was Waterville senior Gavin Poyer, who shot a 78 to take the small school medalist honors.
Twenty-two other golfers joined those three in earning spots in this week’s Section III state qualifier at 7 Oaks Golf Club today.
The second round of the qualifier is Friday at the same course.
They are: JP Lazarro of New Hartford and Will Chouinard of Hamilton (80); Garrett Eisenhunt of New Hartford, Max Jones of Cooperstown and Brayden Sentz of Cooperstown (81); Tommy Goedelle of New Hartford and Todd Wilson of Camden (83); Sean Noon of Notre Dame (84); Ethan Killian of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and Gavin Howd of Oriskany (85); Julian Brazier of New Hartford, Max Luke of Central Valley Academy, Michael Occhipinti of Rome Free Academy, and Connor Stanton of Waterville (86); Mike Stilwell of Whitesboro, TJ Price of Whitesboro and Jack Pietryka of New Hartford (87); Josh Bono of Whitesboro, Chase Giambrone of New Hartford, Jake Hill of New Hartford, Jackson Ruane of Waterville and Tanner Yager of Oneida (88).
