New Hartford man charged after allegedly pointing gun at investigator
UTICA — A New Hartford man was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and second-degree menacing on Monday after pointing a gun at an undercover Oneida County Sheriff investigator as they drove through Utica, according to sheriff's deputies.
Around noon, Jayden Angleton, 21, allegedly pointed a handgun at the undercover investigator as the two vehicles traveled west on Burrstone Road in Utica.
The investigator followed Angleton a short distance, then initiated a traffic stop.
Angleton was taken into custody on state Route 12 in Utica.
The sheriff's office added that Angleton had tossed a gun out of the car window, and it was recovered a short distance from the vehicle. Deputies said Angleton did not possess a New York State pistol permit and could not legally possess the 10mm Glock handgun.
As of Monday evening Angleton was being held and awaiting arraignment at CAP Court.
