SYRACUSE — Fans of festival food rejoice. Organizers of the New York State Fair have announced three new additions to the fair’s roster of adventurous food choices.

Hungry fairgoers can now try Chicken & Waffle Pizza, a Mac & Cheese Bacon Dog and a Spicy PB&J Bacon Dog, according to fair officials.

“We love the creativity of our vendors. They try every year to deliver an experience that you can get only at the Great New York State Fair. As always, these unique treats are best when shared with the rest of your group,” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.

The three new selections can be found in one location—the Pizza Emporium food stand.

The Chicken & Waffle Pizza features fresh dough topped with waffle bits, mozzarella, fried chicken, bacon and a drizzle of syrup.

The Mac & Cheese Bacon Dog is a hotdog wrapped in bacon, topped with creamy macaroni and cheese and bacon crumbles.

The other dog is wrapped in bacon and topped with peanut butter, bacon crumbles and a spicy Sriracha jelly.

The PB&J hotdog will be featured on the Cooking Channel’s “Carnival Eats” Sunday, Aug. 11 at 9 p.m. It will be Pizza Emporium’s second appearance on the show, which visited the Great New York State Fair in 2015. Pizza Emporium and all of the Fair’s food and merchandise vendors can be found using the Food and Merchandise Finder on the Fair’s website. The app is being updated this week, fair officials added.

Founded in 1841, the Great New York State Fair is America’s third largest state fair. The Fair showcases New York agriculture, provides internationally-recognized entertainment and is a key piece of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s CNY Rising strategy of growing the Central New York economy through tourism, officials said.

Fair attendance is up more than 40% since the beginning of more than $120 million in investments, with 1.27 million people attending the Fair in 2018, the officials added. This year’s State Fair runs from August 21 to September 2.
