Nature Preserve hosts spring workshops

COLD BROOK — Shawangunk Nature Preserve cultural center, 255 Shawangunk Road, is offering two free spring-themed workshops.

The only cost is for materials.  To register call 315-826-7405.

• Saturday, April 20 from 10:30 a.m. to noon: Symbol of Spring: A Pussy Willow Wreath.

The miniature wreath is woven with sweet, wild willow twigs adorned with soft, downy catkins. Dried flowers may be added for extra color and texture, and participants can create a little nest in the center to hold an artificial bird or eggs, making a symbol of spring to enjoy year round.  Materials cost is $10

• Saturday, May 4 from 10:30 a.m. to noon: The Magic of Watercolor.

Students may bring their own watercolor paints or watercolor pencils (or use the center’s) and make a beautiful flower portrait to celebrate spring. Instructors will offer different techniques to explore and learn.
