SYRACUSE — Visitors to the New York State Fair will be able to see a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, a 105 millimeter howitzer and an Armored Security Vehicle used by New York Army National Guard Soldiers at the Great New York State Fair .

The equipment will be on display at the New York Army National Guard station on Tonawanda Street near the fair’s Gate 2 until the fair’s last day on Sept. 2.

New York Army National Guard recruiters will also be on hand to talk about service in the Army Guard. Soldiers from Army National Guard units will be on hand to talk to the public about National Guard missions and opportunities, officials said.

The UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter is the Army’s standard transport helicopter. The New York Army National Guard’s 3rd Battalion 142nd Aviation has flown these helicopters on combat missions in Iraq and on emergency response missions here in New York during the response to Superstorm Sandy.

Soldiers will be on duty at the exhibit each day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The M-119 light howitzer is used by the 1st Battalion 258th Field Artillery to provide long-range fire power in support of the New York Army National Guard’s 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

Finally the Armored Security Vehicle was used by New York National Guard Military Police companies conducting security missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
