LATHAM — Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for New York, has announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Those promoted include:
Morgen Seely, of Madison, assigned to the 106th Regional Training Institute, promoted to sergeant first class;
Jamie Swearingen, of Utica, assigned to the Company C, 1st Battalion, 171st Aviation Regiment, promoted to captain;
Cecilia Elias, of Deerfield, assigned to the 1427th Transportation Company, promoted to private first class;
Jamilex Neris, of Utica, assigned to the 206th Military Police Company, promoted to specialist; and
Kevin Nowak, of Marcy, assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, promoted to specialist.
Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential, the announcement said, adding that the promotions additionally recognize the best qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers in the New York Army National Guard.
