Rome school district Superintendent Peter C. Blake was selected by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) as a Superintendent to Watch for 2018-19, the district announced.
Blake was one of 14 superintendents chosen nationally for their innovative and effective use of communication technology, said the district.
The superintendents selected engage and inform their school communities with new communication technology tools combined with tried-and-true techniques, according to the NSPRA announcement.
Among the association’s nomination requirements for candidates to be included on the list of those to watch include:
• Fewer than five years experience as a superintendent;
• Implementing a communication program that uses new technology plus more standard tools;
• Integrating communication goals and strategies into the district’s strategic plan; and
• Visible involvement in the district’s communication efforts such as tweets, blogs and face-to-face engagement activities.
Blake was one of two superintendents from New York state who were selected; the other was from North Merrick.
Blake has been superintendent since July 2016.
