A seminar on the upcoming 2020 U.S. census will be hosted by the Rome chapter of the NAACP on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at Mohawk Valley Community College's Rome campus, 1101 Floyd Ave.

The public is invited to the event, titled “Census 2020, We Count!”

It will include Christopher C. Iven, a Partnership Specialist, New York State Regional Census Center, U.S. Census Bureau, said the Rome NAACP announcement.

The announcement observed that "federal funds, grants and support to states, counties and communities are based on population totals and breakdown by sex, age, race and other factors. When you respond to the census you help your community get its fair share." This is why people are invited to attend the seminar, it added.
