• “2018 Art in Bloom - Fine Art and Floral Exhibition”
May 18 – May 20
A celebration of the Museum’s collection as interpreted through fresh flowers. This three-day program will feature special events, workshops, floral-inspired items at the Art in Bloom Pop-up Shop, and floral creations inspired by timeless artworks. Art in Bloom events include:
Demonstration: Floral Watercolors on Saturday, May 19, 1-3 p.m. Artists Martha Deming, Joanne DeStefano, and Mary Murphy. Free with Art in Bloom admission.
Demonstration (and raffle): Container Gardening on Sunday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. Michael Mahanna, Central New York Conservancy Certified Arborist and owner of The How-to Gardener, Clinton. Cost is $10, $5 MWPAI members. Art in Bloom admission included. For tickets call 315-797-0055.
The Terrace Cafe will be open for afternoon tea Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Floral hats encouraged.
A closing reception will be held on Sunday, May 20, from 3-4:30 p.m. featuring a chance to meet the designers. Free with Art in Bloom admission.
• “Global Splendor: Traditions in Ceremonial Dress”

This summer, the Edward W. Root Sculpture Court in the Museum of Art becomes a showcase for ceremonial clothing from around the world.
Kathryn Stam, Ph.D., Professor of Anthropology at SUNY-Polytechnic Institute, is guest curator for the exhibition “Global Splendor: Traditions in Ceremonial Dress.”
Professor Stam has brought together an assortment of garments that represent important cultural traditions, rituals, or ceremonies from collections in the greater Utica community.

• Art and Yoga: For Mind, Body and Spirit

Each class offers a 15-minute introduction to art in the gallery followed by one hour of yoga. All levels of ability are welcome. Wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat.
