MVHS Women’s Health Center welcomes new OB-GYNs

UTICA – Ebere Azumah, MD, MPH, ACC, FACOG, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN), has joined the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Women’s Health Center.

Prior to this position, Dr. Azumah was an attending physician at Locums Tenens in Alpharetta, Georgia, and at Unity Health Care and Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. At Providence Hospital, she was a peer review chair where she had the opportunity to investigate and identify the cause of adverse medical events.

She mentored, taught and supervised Family Medicine and OB-GYN residents. Dr. Azumah was a co-chair for the Managed Continuing Medical Education (CME) program where she developed curriculum and organized guest lectures. She also supervised the in-house midwifery team.

Dr. Azumah received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. She received her Master of Public Health with a Health Management concentration from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Azumah received her Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Long Island Jewish-Northwell School of Medicine in New Hyde, New York. Dr. Azumah is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

John A. Lovier, MD, FACOG, a specialist in OB-GYN, has joined the MVHS Women’s Health Center.

Prior to this position, Dr. Lovier was the director of Women’s Health at the University of Vermont’s Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York. Dr. Lovier was also the chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, New York. Dr. Lovier is board certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Lovier earned his Bachelor of Arts from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Arts from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Dr. Lovier received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
