MVCC sweeps three baseball games from Columbia-Greene Community College
UTICA — The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team swept three games Saturday from Columbia-Greene Community College at Donovan Stadium's Murnane Field.
Game one was a continuation of a suspended game from Thursday. The Hawks exploded for nine runs in the seventh inning to win 21-8. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill graduate Jackson Horodnick had three hits and Josh Duval, of Proctor High of Utica, added a pair of hits and scored four runs to lead the offensive attack.
In game two, MVCC won 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule. Kevin Del Vecchio had two hits and scored three runs. Mike Darrell picked up the win on the mound striking out four while allowing only three hits.
In game three, MVCC again won 11-1 in five innings. Pat Linck, of Cazenovia, stole five bases and scored three runs. Linck stole 10 bases on the day. Anthony Mante went all five innings on the mound for the victory.
The Hawks, who are 5-8 overall, will travel to play the Ithaca College junior varsity team for one nine-inning game at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
