MVCC sweeps pair from SUNY Adirondack
UTICA — The Mohawk Valley Community College baseball team swept SUNY Adirondack in Saturday's doubleheader at Donovan Stadium's Murnane Field.
The Hawks won the first game 5-2. Oriskany's Colton Davis laced a two-out single off of Adirondack ace Tyrell Tillman to score Proctor High of Utica's Josh Duval for the go ahead run in the fifth inning and they added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth. Holland Patent's Jake Beer pitched a complete game allowing only one earned run. Brothers Brandon and David Breakell each added two hits to aid the offensive attack.
The Hawks won the second contest 8-4. Proctor's Joe DiMasse went 4-for-4 with five RBIs to power the Hawks. Brandon Breakell hurled five innings with six strikeouts and Cory Field nailed down the win with two innings in relief. Cazenovia's Pat Linck stole three bags and David Breakell and Kevin Del Vecchio each added a pair of hits.
The Hawks, who improved to 7-3 in Region III and 10-8 overall, visit the Utica University junior varsity team at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
