MVCC salutes honor society inductees

UTICA — Six students at Mohawk Valley Community College have been inducted into Spire, a national honor society that recognizes the achievements of adult learners and nontraditional students enrolled in two-year colleges.

MVCC’s Spring 2022 Spire inductees are:

Jacqueline Ackerman, of Rome, criminal justice;

Keisha Danois, of Utica, human services;

James Doxtader, of Dolgeville, air conditioning technology: refrigeration;

Kelly Dwyer, of New Hartford, nursing;

Samuil Kislyuk, of Utica, general studies; and

Courtney Lighthall, of Rome, health sciences.

Spire is a national honor society for nontraditional students enrolled in two-year academic programs who have overcome significant obstacles to achieve academic success. Its mission is to provide adult (defined as at least 23 or older) and nontraditional students (such as young single parents, those with disabilities, those who earn degrees while working full-time, and international students) with the same level of recognition outstanding traditional students receive.
