The MVCC Concert Band will perform in concert on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre. Admission is free, and concessions will benefit the Capitol.
Concert selections will include marches, show tunes, movie medleys, classics, novelties, and more. This season, the ensemble is spotlighting “A Tribute to Ray Charles,” as well as selections from “Fiddler on the Roof,” in addition to Clare Grumdman’s “American Folk Rhapsody” and “Buffalo Dances” by Robert W. Smith.
The Mohawk Valley Community College Concert Band has been a non-credit offering of the school’s Center for Community and Economic Development since 1978. The ensemble encompasses volunteer musicians of all ages and abilities, amateur and professional, from all walks of life. Under the direction of Rome Arts Hall of Fame inductee Barb Seaton since 1995, the band regularly performs several concerts each semester at area nursing homes, care facilities, and retirement communities as well as the occasional public concert.
