MVCAA to honor Community Champions with luncheon

WHITESBORO — Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, Inc. is honoring the 2022 Community Champions at its annual luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Hart’s Hill Inn, 135 Clinton St.

The featured award recipients are among Mohawk Valley’s most gifted and passionate community members and organizations, including Susan Woods, the Treva Wood Community Activist Award recipient, and headliner of the event. 

For the past 20 years, Woods has been a staple in the community advocating for change, diversity, equity and inclusion for all, said MVCAA officials.

Her impact has been stretched across 20-plus community organizations with the intent to make the Mohawk Valley a better place, the MVCAA officials added.

The 2022 Community Champions:

• Susan Woods, Treva Wood Community Activist;

• Carol and Larry Russell, Community Visionary;

• Stone Ridge Residences, Community Builder;

• Utica DEI Community Partnership, Community Ambassador.
