Music in the Gazebo series to feature Above the Dam Band
OLD FORGE — The Old Forge Library’s Music in the Gazebo series will feature Above the Dam at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Above The Dam hail from Kayuta and Hinckley lakes, hence the name. The band plays an eclectic array of Americana music which blends in musical genres from folk to country, blues and bluegrass to rock.
In addition to original music off of their eponymous CD, “Paper & Pen”, the band also does numerous covers of Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Little Feat, John Prine, Tyler Childers, Stoney LaRue, VanMorrison, Johnny Cash, Bob Seeger, Dave Mathews and more.
The large lawn area surrounding the library gazebo offers the opportunity to spread out and enjoy this free, family-friendly entertainment. Listeners are asked to bring their own blanket or folding chair.
In case of inclement weather, the audience is invited to sit under the big tent on the lawn.
The Friends of the Old Forge Library will offer a used “book mart” during the concert, if weather permits. Listeners are invited to stop by their booth and load up on used books, dvds, puzzles, and more. Donations are appreciated. The library is at 220 Crosby Blvd.
