Music from Broadway to China at B Sharp Musical Club concert
UTICA — The B Sharp Musical Club of Utica presents its January concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, in the Sinnott Family-Bank of Utica Auditorium at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, 310 Genesee St.
Featured performers include vocalists Lisa Jones, Ying Wu and Peter Costianes; pianists John Krause, Htee Mu, Colleen Roberts Pellman, Sar Shalom Strong and Tina Toglia; violinist Claire Wilcox, oboist Janelle Bookhout and bassoonist Judy Marchione.
This varied program will feature music from Broadway to China, along with many modern classics. Featured songs from shows and operas include “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from “The Sound of Music,” “Si la rigueur” from “La Juive” and “Things Change” from “Little Women.”
Other vocal selections include the Chinese art song, “On the Top of East Mountain” as well as music of Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Instrumental pieces include music of Fauré, Brahms and Poulenc.
