Murder suspect turned himself in


A 32-year-old Utica man has peacefully turned himself in to Utica Police after being wanted for homicide.

Police said Justin Peak shot and killed 42-year-old Cleastore Jefferson on James Street on July 21. Police said Peak went on the run and his name and photograph were spread through the public. Police said Peak turned himself in Wednesday evening, with the assistance of his family and his attorney. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

He is currently in the county jail and is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
