Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute to host Navy SEAL

UTICA — The Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute in Utica will host former Navy SEAL Kristin Beck for a presentation, followed by a screening of the documentary film based on her life, on Friday, Oct. 12. The presentation will begin at 6 p.m. following a reception, and the film will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, and food and beverages will be available.

The film, Lady Valor: The Kristin Beck Story (2014), originally aired on CNN.

Exploring Beck’s service while she grapples with her identity as a closeted transgender woman, the film received commendations at both South By Southwest and the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in its debut year.

This event is presented by the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees.
