Motorcyclist dies in Route 26 crash; troopers say victim was cut off

TOWN OF VERNON — A 76-year-old motorcyclist is dead after another motor vehicle cut in front of him on State Route 26
Friday afternoon, according to a report by area law enforcement officials.

State police said James E. Flynn, 76, of Fort Plain, Montgomery County, was southbound on Route 26 at about 1:30 p.m. Troopers said Kristina M. Thorick, 23, of Binghamton, Broome County, was northbound and began to make a left turn into a driveway. Troopers said Thorick failed to yield the right of way to Flynn and his 2003 Harley Davidson crashed into the passenger side of Thorick’s 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. Flynn was thrown off the motorcycle and was rushed to the Oneida Health Care Center, the state troopers said.

Flynn was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, the law enforcers added. Thorick and her passenger were not injured, authorities said.

The accident remains under investigation, the state police officials added.
