TOWN OF SULLIVAN — A 35-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle in Madison County Monday night and crashed into a utility pole, according to law enforcement officials.
State police said Jesse D. McCombie II, of Canastota, was southbound on Bridgeport-Kirkville Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road at about 7:45 p.m. atop his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle. Troopers said the bike went off the roadway, traveled across a lawn and hit a utility pole.
McCombie was thrown off the motorcycle in the crash, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Syracuse.
The speed limit along that stretch of rural highway is 35 mph.
The crash remains under investigation.
