Motorcyclist dead in Trenton crash, investigation continues
TRENTON — A 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a turning vehicle on Trenton Road Saturday night while traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation of the incident continues.
Sheriff's deputies said Dakota Safin, of Holland Patent, was riding a 2002 Honda southbound on Trenton Road at a high rate of speed at about 7 p.m. Saturday when he crashed into a 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck. Deputies said Mary Fanelli, 57, of Barneveld, had been northbound in her pickup when she made a left turn onto John Street.
There is no traffic control device at the intersection between Trenton Road and John Street.
Safin was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities stated.
Neither Fanelli or her two passengers were injured.
The initial investigation said that speed was a contributing factor to the crash, deputies said. Alcohol use and cell phone distractions were ruled out, investigators stated.
No tickets have been issued in this crash.
Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 315-765-2737.
