Motorcyclist accused of pot possession on state Thruway

TOWN OF GUILDERLAND — A Utica man was busted with more than a pound of marijuana on his motorcycle on the Thruway near Albany Wednesday night, according to law enforcement officials.

Troopers said Julius J. Labeda, 38, was pulled over for a vehicle and traffic violation on the Thruway shortly before 10 p.m. Once stopped, police said Labeda had a suspended license, and he was found with 1.4 pounds of marijuana.

Labeda is charged with one count each of second-degree possession of marijuana, a class D felony, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several vehicle and traffic violations, troopers said. He was held in Albany County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
